Summer time: set the record straight!

Summer time: set the record straight!

This weekend in the night of March 28 to 29, you will have to advance your clocks by one hour to switch to summer time! If you do not have an atomic clock that will change the time automatically, you will need to set your clocks manually throughout the house. So in the night from Saturday to Sunday, when it is 2am, you will have to advance your clock to 3am. But why not keep the same time all year round? This change, instituted since 1916 (abandoned between 1946 and 1973), is justified by the energy savings that result from better use of sunlight. Advancing an hour allows for solar lighting later in the evening and less early in the morning when the population is still asleep and does not need as much electricity. This changeover to summer time takes place every year on the last Sunday in March at 2 a.m. and ends on the last Sunday in October at the same time.
