The Emmaüs Fair, a large solidarity sale for the benefit of international action, will take place on Sunday, June 14, 2009. It will also be an opportunity to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Emmaüs Movement founded in 1949 by Father Pierre. 180 Emmaüs groups from France and Europe are mobilizing to organize the 10th Emmaüs Fair in favor of International Solidarity. The Emmaüs Salon is 27,000 m2 of low prices: a real response to the crisis. Everyday objects, bicycles, textile space, electronics, household appliances, furniture, children's area and creation of recycled plastic objects await you for the pleasure of bargain hunting and doing business. The profits made during this gathering will go to actions carried out by Emmaüs International. The total revenue from the 2008 Fair (500,000 euros) was used to support the collective international commitments of Emmaus International for the defense of human rights, including, in particular, access to health (Mutuelle Santé Afrique) and access to education (Mutuelle Education Amérique) in South America. On the agenda this year: promote recycled material, reconsider the creation process, promote young creation and the emergence of trends, create a meeting between stylists and motley audience of Emmaus.
